Toyota RallySA (motorsport event)
Posted By: SupremeMoFo, 08-12-2007, 04:06 AM

Pretty cold out there today. Nowhere near as many people as in previous years. Nowhere near as much spent on advertising, no venue TV screen etc. Really need Subaru to come back as a factory team, and for Toyota to bring back the turbo AWD Corollas. And the Ralliart team.

For EXIF data, find the show EXIF link on each page.
The Fiesta - now the loudest car in the ARC , other than Molly Taylor's Mirage Cyborg.

Going a touch wide...

Love the Evo VI.

And another, with mismatched rims.

Hairpin drift -

The boring way to do the same corner.

Fiesta again - it's got a really good driver.

Probably my favourite photo from today -

Got understeer?

Plenty of these around... all welcome -

Plantation forests always look a touch surreal -

Great shots, but try slowing the shutter speed down to 1/125th.

Impressive list of photos from the race.

What were the shutter speed with these shots?

p.s. just out of curiosity, are there any similar sports racing in Victoria?

Great Shots!!! I'm curious of the shutter speeds too. When I shoot cars, I'm not very good panning under 1/160 (at between 200-300mm). Guess I need some more practice.

Thank you!
The frozen action photos were between 1/1600s and 1/2500s. This was a practice run for the WRC in NZ in 3 weeks time - I was using shutter priority, and what I should've done was used aperture priority, and set it to f2.8.

Most of the tracking shots are 1/200s, except for the last one. Higher success rate, and still get a nice blurred background.

This event was a round of the Australian Rally Championship. Your round is on the 9th-11th of November, held out in the Dandenongs IIRC. Official website of the NEC Australian Rally Championship
The power zoom of your FA*80-200 would be really convenient for these events in certain situations, depending on how fast it is.
