Excellent work!! Very well composed, Iike them all! The butterfly and hummer in particular is an impressive capture. What equipment did you use?

There are great but the second from last is a stand out. Looks a lot better when you open the photo up. JIM

Those are great captures, I'm jealous. Good action stopping. You were very watchful catching them at rest. Must have had a nesting tree close by. Congratulations.

Thank you! I used my Pentax K 10-D and my DA 55-300 lens. I must confess...they are hand held...I just hate lugging a tripod around

Thank you Jim...so glad you liked them. No nest close by...just a crazy lady willing to stand stock still for long periods of time

Wow!!! These are some amazing shots!! I'm guessing you used a short shutter-time so a tripod hadn't helped you anyway.

Very well done!!!

Great shots, I like shooting hummers to but don't have many right now. will be trying later though...I like the next to last shot best too, that one just jumps right off the screen.

I do mostly hand held too, and I sit near my mother's hummer feeder and wait for ages sometimes. So I know what you're saying, it takes a lot of patience...I don't mind a tripod when I need it, but usually if I don't plan to be doing either really high magnification or really long shutter speeds, I like hand held and don't carry it around. But it is always on teh back floorboard, within easy reach if needed....

Great series Jan. I'm jealous. Not a hummer in sight in my area so far.

Well done! The two shots with the sunflower stand out to me. Love them both.
I think most nature shooters covet shots of humming birds.
