Yellow Jacket nest

Taken yesterday when I was out playing. Didn't think much of it at first...


Till I looked closer. 100% crop.

Oh, wow - that is really something. Those wasps are nasty stingers making me impressed with your courage to photograph a nest so close.

It's fascinating to see them growing in the nest like that. Well done.

Very neat shot. Last time I saw one of those under the windowsill outside my bedroom, it didn't occur to me to get my camera. I got the Raid and my thick-soled shoes!

The trick to getting these without disturbing them to much is either wait for a cool day, or do it in the evening when it starts getting dark. I used flash, as it was starting to get dark.

I was pleasantly surprised to see them growing like that. It was totally unexpected.

I was going to Raid it after the "Photo shoot", but actually forgot. Gives me the opportunity to try again, now that I know there is something growing in there.

Why Raid them, i leave their nests alone, they have never sting me.
