i really really really appreciate all the nice comments. for a while i've been a little down on my photography, not really shooting or posting anything. basically hit a rut. i'm glad my stuff isn't completely awful and some appreciate it i was out shooting sat, sun, thurs, and going out tomorrow too, slowly getting back into it

Great photos - well done! Must have been something being in the midst of the melee.

For those of you in a rut - find an event or a happening and jump in; at the end of the day the subject is the most important thing.
ya unfortunately i have been in a rut, maybe half a year now mostly just not feeling very creative, i just couldn't think of anything to shoot. i really needed these protests to give me a spark again

Nice work Peter.

Documentary quality was the phrase I was looking for. Has that Eddie Adams look about it to it for those who may remember the Vietnam era.

Wow, well done with these photos... Certainly looks like you got in the thick of the action!
Good work on taking hold of the opportunity.
i got into some action, but not as thick as i could have. i tried to stay away from the really crazy stuff because i don't have insurance on my gear, and i can't really afford my camera being smashed by anarchists or police. so unfortunately missed a lot of great shots, but whatever

Impressive reportage! The first two shots are iconic in my eyes for this event

i have a love hate relationship with it. it's not the best quality lens, the aperture is quite bad (3.5 at 18mm) and the focus is not fast at all. i gatta admit that i miss a lot of fast moving shots (horrible for sports or action), but if you can anticipate the motion you can pull it off since i only have one body it's great because i don't have to change lenses (wide angle to telephoto in less than a second).

not sure why i'm explaining the lens so much hah
