House Spider With 10-17mm Fisheye!
Lens: PENTAX DA 10-17mm f/3.5-4.5 ED (IF) Camera: K7 ISO: 400 Shutter Speed: 1/45s Aperture: F9.5

The Macro insect photography in this forum is absolutely amazing and inspiring. With that in mind, when confronted today by a little spider in my basement today, I decided to see what I could accomplish with a total lack of macro equipment.

I tried my 50-135. I tried my 50mm 1.4 and, as a last resort used my PENTAX DA 10-17mm f/3.5-4.5 ED (IF) Fisheye.

The results were surprising! With an approximate two inch minimum focusing distance, I was able to get quite personal with this little arachnid!

Of course, these are nothing like the astounding images produced by Rense and others, but it was enough to convince me to make my next purchase the 100mm f/2.8 WR. I wonder how the wife will react to another hit to our credit card?

Larger sizes are here and here on Flickr.

I would never have guessed those shots came from the da10-17 fisheye. You are well on your way.
