In the garden
Posted By: janver, 08-13-2007, 03:40 PM

A colleague of mine has only a very small garden.
Quite an incentive to take creative pictures.

Thought this one looks nice. Recently put on my "old" lenses again. I think the SMC A 50/1.7, this picture was taken with, still does a very good job. It was my first ever Pentax lens, must be some 25 yaers old now

It's technically a good photo, just maybe, it's not so interesting? Just guessing. I like the photo anyway.

I think it's a very nice picture. I love that lens! One of my favorites and cheap too.

Well, thank you for yr opinion.
Must say I agree on the lens. Didn't use it for quite some time but with the purchase of my FA 77 Prime I got renewed interest in those "older" Primes like my A 50/1.7 and A28/2.8 and I'm not at all disappointed!

I like the grass, but I think the problem may be that black thing (water tank? camera lens?) in the background - it makes you look there first instead of the great job you've done with the grass. Could you reshoot with a slightly less overpowering background or is the garden too small even for that?

I do like the idea. But I find the background a little distracting. I find that I am more focused on trying to figure out the background then looking at the grass.

I agree with Fritz, a good idea but the background is distracting. Perhaps would also have been good to be a little closer to the grass. I had loads of primes for my old Praktica and Chinon cameras, but they were on M42 threads. I've often wondered since if I should have explored if I could have adapted them in some way, but I let them go. Some of them gave really sharp images. Great you are re-discovering yours.
