carnival at twilight

Saugus Ma has a carnival going on to benefit special olympics.I was down there the other night at twilight and managed to grab a few shots.I think that on a couple of these (1&3)they may have come out a little better if I had used my Vivitar flash to bring out a little more detail in the forground which was very dark.---charliezap

Nice shots. I like the floating duckies. Wish I had thought of that...

I went to a local fair not long ago and none of my shots turned out at all, using my Samsung point & shoot, before I got the K-x. Then someone freaked out and called the cops on me for taking pictures...I guess they thought I was a crazed stalker or something, I got questioned, ID checked, took 15-20 minutes, they wanted to look through my pictures, it was a major hassle and pretty much ruined my night. Then found out I never got a decent picture either... If I had known a good friend in the Sherriff's dept was there I would have made them get a warrant, or just call him, but I didn't find that out until later...he wasn't happy about it either, called them idiots. I didn't push it because I didn't feel like going to jail, some of the locals have no sense of humor...

That first one has a strong mood that might indeed benefit from the lack of flash. Thanks for sharing!

The dark clouds give the picture a subtle moody look.It was raining most of the day and the clouds were breaking up at sunset.--charliezap

While the first one was in the k20 I saved it in "illustration mode".I don't know if this particular look does anything for me.It's different though.-charliezap

Hey Capn - that first one is amazing. Really takes me back to those "Warm Summer Nights" of my youth.

Thanks Dave--The special olympics fundraiser did very well this year despite the economy.I took a couple of shots of #3 and tweaked this one a bit.The shots were taken about 30secs apart.I used this one to give the people entering my "food" contest another idea on the theme.Close ups of food are great but there are a gazillion other shots that can reference food.I hope to see some pics from you entered---charliezap

I try to stay away from the fried stuff.I must be out of touch with the times.Rides at a typical carnival are 4 tickets and each ticket is $1.25.--charliezap
