Hummingbirds from last 2 weeks
Lens: Makinon 135 f2.8 Camera: K-x Photo Location: Louisiana ISO: 200
Posted By: Paleo Pete, 07-18-2010, 04:31 PM

Got some good Hummer shots, here are a few. Some taken in Louisiana at a local Wildlife Management Area, some in Texas at my mother's feeder. All shot with the Makinon 135mm.

This one was at the WMA. Female Ruby Throat, only time I managed to stop her wings.

This is a rare shot of a hummer with its beak open. Rare for me anyway...

Same one sitting on the feeder

And one on my mother's feeder in Texas, a young male Ruby Throat, just developing his red chin feathers.

Thought I had uploaded more of the Texas shots, this is the only one.

I've never seen them with their beak open just because they're so fast, so great capture there!

Thanks, me either, that was the first time I've gotten it, and I think that was a fluke. It certainly wasn't intentional...lucky shot if there ever was one.

Nice work! I've put up a feeder and I'm waiting for the buggers to find it so I hoping I'll have some shots to share soon.

Nice stuff, I like the last one best. Ours have arrived in the last week or so. Still trying to get them used to us.

Thanks guys, I always try to get some shots when around a feeder, they move so fast it's not easy, but it's really interesting to watch one guard it and run all the others off. That young one was guarding the feeder (in the last shot), he chased an even smaller one several times, and an adult several times.

There goes my mouse again...much as I hate it I gotta take this laptop apart...again...
