Arctic Beauty... [4 IMG]
Posted By: Duplo, 07-19-2010, 06:47 PM

Hi All,

Been a good while since i have posted here.
Anyway, wanted to share a few portraits of this absolutely stunning young female.

I have always wanted to shoot a session with a female in the traditional Greenlandic dress, lit by midnight sun and with the UNESCO world heritage site listed Icefiord as a backdrop, sound easy right?

Well during a week worth of work for a client up there, I finally got an evening off to do just that.

Here are a few samples from the session:

Formal pose (K-7 and FA43ltd):

Seated (K-7 and FA77ltd):

Headshot (K-7 and FA77ltd):

Just a grabshot while getting ready for some other stuff (k-7 and 10-17FE):

We shot a whole bunch of other stuff too, but these were why the session was set up
Will have more images from the actual reason for being up there soon, which again involved boats, glaciers, helicopters and a lot of other stuff.

Comments and questions are as always welcome.

Thanks for looking

Great set!!! I enjoy the 4th photo the best. The shadow from the nose is a little harsh (but what do I know... I'm a beginner) but I don't know, something about the photo I enjoy (yes, given the model is hot).

Nice images, like how she warms up the cold background.

Not to worry, a grabshot and I find the shadow a little to dominating too, but best i could do before the moment passed. in spite of the harsh nose shadow, i keep comming back to it.

Thanks for liking the set and the grabshot.

Well I don't know much about lighting, but IMO you have done a fine job in lighting your subject!
Your model really pops off the screen and is quite a contrast to the background. Great colours and detail in the Greenlandic dress. I do really like the last one though, due to the more relaxed and less formal nature.
Nice photos

well, not to be a partypooper, but personally, I find the lighting of the woman a little artificial. Since there's nothing between the subject and the (very) distant background, it almost feels like it's shot in a studio in front of an (out of focus) landscape image. That last one however I find breathtaking, and I look forward to these other images involving glaciers, helicopters and whatnot you mentioned!

Well Urje no need to feel like a partypooper at all.
It is your opinion and I appreciate it as much as the compliments..

What you dislike in the first 3 was done entirely on purpose though.
Is my ratios slightly off or dead wrong maybe even? well that is a matter of taste you prefer a different balance than I do and nothing wrong with that.

Appreciate your compliment on the last one as much as your "partypooping" comment on the first 3 though

Will post a few of them as soon as I have completed processing and delivered to the client.

Thanks for commenting
