My first DSLR pictures
Lens: 18-55mm Kit Lens Camera: Pentax kx

I just got this camera today and it's my first DSLR ever. Very nice camera, but I'm sure there is much wrong with my pictures, haha. I'm haven't even scratched the surface of it yet, so be gentle.

Three were of my fiance and were just candid shots and I thought they turned out pretty decent.

What do you think, keeping in mind that I'm a complete noobie when it comes to DSLRs? I'd love to hear some tips.

Nice Looks like you're enjoying your new camera. Sure there's some areas for improvement, but for day 1 you've done well. Pic #1 in particular is appealing.

Well done. In 12 months time you will look at these and say great start, and I am improving all the time.
I reckon most of us are still learning new tricks even after many years.

Thank you so much guys! I have had a passion for photography for many years but have not had means to go about it until now, so I am indeed having a blast.

I like #2

well done

#1 looks wrong to me, underexposed, low contrast, but you might like it that way

Thanks, Pablum. Number one does indeed look different. I used the built-in Cross Processing filter and thought it turned out well (no other processing was done). It will obviously not work for everybody, but I appreciate your comment!

Cross Processing is just great. I fall in love with it at first sight within 3 weeks of having the K-x. I've done the firmware update today and i there are no words to express my amaze with the further control granted on the process.

Excelent pictures Josh, congratz.
