Absolutely stunning detail here! I also really like the smooth background as well as the flower. There are, however, a few distractions here and there (sac-like things on the fly) that hurt the shot a bit, IMO.

Really? Thats a part of the fly.....

Rense, much better IMO. My critique would be more DOF, as there is very little.

I agree with yeatzee, the DOF is a bit shallow. I also see something on his eye and can't decide if it's supposed to be there or if it's a dust spot on your sensor. I know, you always clean your sensor. And I don't usually nit-pick but really Rense....I'm starting to learn more about critiquing photos, so forgive me if I'm doing wrong.

I have enjoyed them both ways, Rense! This is excellent! Do you use extension tubes too, or is this just cropped?

Good result here too Rense.
The detail of this intriguing insect is impressive - and a little more stopped down (f/16-22 perhaps) and it would have been sharper. But well done.
