My New Eccentric German Friend - Outing with Primoplan 55/1.9
Lens: Meyer-Optik Görlitz Primoplan 58/1.9 V (M42) Camera: Pentax K-x White Photo Location: Vancouver

Found a great deal on a Meyer-Optik Primoplan 58/1.9 lens locally - so I couldn't resist getting it. I found out that I love the weird way it handles out of focus elements and bokeh.

First the lens itself, it's a beaut (looking sexy on my Pentax ME)

And here are some quick test shots. JPEGs straight out of the camera, shot wide open at f1.9 (except as noted)

Thanks! Shots #1 and #5 show the unusual 'spinning' Primoplan bokeh. I'm glad I got this lens as I really like the effect.

Very interesting, even a bit strange bokeh, gives artistic possibilities for sure, well done!

Thats sure some different bokeh and I like the effect. The first one looks like skin patterns from a hand. This lens should allow you to be pretty creative. Great deal.
Thanks for posting.

To me, that one looks like brush strokes. So wonderfully weird.

I've added a few more sample images at the bottom of the post ...
