Same sun - Same lens - Different decade
Lens: M 50/1.7 Camera: *istDS Photo Location: TN ISO: 400 Shutter Speed: 1/90s Aperture: F5.6

I recall shooting an almost identical sunset in the mountains of Montana with this same lens on a K1000. However, this time it was in rural western Tennessee 29 years later.

The shooting technique didn't change - manual focus and a SWAG for the exposure both times. Old habits are hard to change.

Sure was nice not to have to wait a week to see the results. I did note that batteries were now a requirement though.

Bodies may come and go, but lenses and sunsets endure.

I think that this is a great shot. Although the square format isn't typical, I think that the framing turned out very nice!

Thanks. I just sat and smiled at that ol' lens after I realized the connection with earlier days.

Actually it's a 5:4 ratio in this instance. I tend to use the formats closer to 1:1 frequently - perhaps because I started with a TLR a long time ago. Or was it because I could only afford a loaner 8x10 printing easel at first.
