Football season is here!
Posted By: jsundin, 08-25-2007, 10:11 PM

Today, around the area, the youth football (American) programs has their jamborees, which means they all played 2 small "games", giving them each a chance on offense and defense. It also gave me a chance to get the cobwebs brushed off my shooting skills.

Here is one I loved. Taken with the K100D, DA50-200 lens, 1/320, f8, ISO200

An interception in the endzone to halt the Lincoln Cardinals drive. If you are a Westview fan, those are the new uniforms (in red) for the team. You may remember them being blue last season.

I love youth football! (It gives me something to cheer about seeing that the Lions are looking awful again this year. Lost 37-3 to Indy last night...ouch!) Nice action capture!
My son starts 10 yr old son starts football practice tomorrow morning. This will be my first football season with a dslr. Looking forward to getting some great shots.

Classic shot fletcherkane, I agree with Charlie - the coach's reaction really adds to the shot.

Fletcherkane, you will have a blast taking pictures at games. But, since you are up north (like me in Oregon), you will start to lose light and may struggle at times with lower light situations. In those cases, since I don't have real fast lenses, I crank up the ISO and just have fun! Those shots end up grainy, but with a little B&W, they look like newspaper shots. Have fun!

As for those Lions, I feel for you. I want to root for them. I like Matt Millen as a player, but he seems to have some less than ideal strategies. Joe Harrington was good in college out here, but seems to be struggling to make the big step up to the NFL. And, Detroit is not a nice, easy going atmosphere for "developing" athletes. You guys can get mean! ;-)

Good luck.

Jeff
