Another one for the railfans

While the train from Denver to Cheyenne for Frontier days has been going for many years, today was the first time in quite a while that a train ran south from Denver to Pueblo to the State Fair. The train went from Union Station in Denver along the Joint Line to Pueblo. The first shots were taken at Union Station in Denver and the last two were just north of Larkspur, CO. All were taken with my K10D at ISO 100.

A nice touch, I thought, was that the diesel helper engine was painted in Rio Grande colors.

It is a long uphill grade from Denver all the way to Monument Hill near Palmer Lake and the engine was working hard.
