Port in a Storm
Lens: DA 16-45 Camera: K20D Photo Location: Kemah, TX
Posted By: Sailor, 08-18-2010, 02:21 PM

We spent a couple of days on board our boat with our granddaughter at the beginning of the week. We never moved the boat on these largely windless and hot (and I mean hot) days, but enjoyed ourselves in the marina pool and on Kemah's boardwalk at night.

The hazy and sullen sun was briefly interrupted by a summer storm, accompanied by 40-knot winds - one of those times you feel both snug and smug in the harbor. After all the noise and bombast, little much-need rain actually materialized, as indicated in the last pic.

These are alll great Jer. I love shots like these. I want to get over to Southern Alberta next summer as they have some really interesting storm patterns. JIM

Beautiful shots. I really like the second one. It's as if all the masts are telling you to look up at the storm.

Incredible shots. I love the feel the storm clouds bring to pictures of sea going craft.

Thanks, buddy. Although I didn't do it in this case, I enjoy a nap below decks during an afternoon summer shower.

Thanks alot. I enjoy the drama of a storm scene, particularly when we're safely tied up!

Great series, of a storm rising, I love the second and the third shots, where there is a bright zone between the storm and the foreground, gives even more drama to the images!
