Some great detail- I specially like the second! I also think it is the sharpest and best-composed of the batch

Hi Tom, You set the standard with m400/5.6, no doubt. cool front slipped down from
you guys, finally comfy to get out. you seeing mostly males now? your thistle is a little
further along than here, they key on that.

Pretty bird and pretty great shots. I too preferred the first one overall but would be thrilled to have shot any of the 3 myself.

Thanks Bill,

I'm sure we will have some more cold air to send your way before long.

Looks like the worst of the summer heat and humidity is behind us now. I don't know that we have more males than females but they certainly standout more. The females blend into the background.

In any case the thistle in this area seems to be at its peak as far as the Goldfinches are concerned. Lots of photo opportunities at the moment.
