I Came for the Waters
Lens: DA 18-55 II and 50-200mm Camera: Pentax K200D Photo Location: Northern Adirondacks ISO: 100
Posted By: Tamia, 08-21-2010, 07:15 AM

Hiked along a river in midafternoon yesterday, with the sun behind me and illuminating the opposite shore. The brilliant green highlights from the woods and the deep blue sky reflected in the waves, and the bright colors of rocks and algae in the shallows couldn't go unrecorded.

I like the smooth water in the second, and the rich colors in the last! Must have been a beautiful hike.

Thanks a lot for reminding me of how much I enjoyed living where the Adirondacks were just a short drive away...

Excellent pictures!

Good eye. Keep looking for slices of nature like this. Wonderful light and exhuberant natural greens. Different than mine, not only because of the light, but also because the faster shutter speeds allow the scene to have a more vibrant and realistic look.

Thanks much, Paul. The Adks are very beautiful, no doubt about it, especially the rivers. I must say, though, that in riding through Oklahoma (on a bus) in November, I saw some fascinating country and extraordinary skies. Sometime I'll spend more time in the plains.

Thanks JMR, much appreciated. I love shooting water in both slow and faster shutter speeds, with each giving a different mood.
