Death Angel

You don't want to harvest one of these for a saute with your rib eye. But some critter has nibbled on it, and slugs have been dining on the stalk. It's an Amanita virosa, commonly called the Destroying Angel or Death Angel.

Nice shot of a dangerous object! I like the balance in the composition and the contrasting red leaf!

Thanks Dave. I DID get press my bod to the ground, but cheated a little, since the fungus was growing on a steep hillside at trail's edge. At least I didn't need to impose on my knees.
