Went exploring along the Grand River today and found a spot with many varieties of birds. This Cardinal seems to have no understanding of the local signage.

I'm impressed by that waxwing--they're so hard to shoot!

Thanks Dave,

Until today I've had trouble finding them yet alone shooting them. This area seems to be alive with Waxwings, Cardinals and I even saw a couple of hummingbirds. I'll have to visit again and see what I can capture.

In addition to being fast moving they're well-named. I've had a devil of a time capturing any detail

Hey Dave,

If it were easy it wouldn't be bird photography.

Me too Jer.

Cardinals are really territorial birds but this guy has raised the bar to new levels.

Thought I'd toss in an image of the Cardinal in a more traditional pose:

Really nice job Tom, I'm loving that picture of the Waxwing (along with the Waxwings in your other thread, that I am yet to comment on). Looks like you are still noticeably improving IMO - which is impressive

Thanks Jason

I'm having a lot of fun with the M 400/5.6. It's getting to be my "normal lens."

Thanks Dave

They are both beautiful birds and amongst my favourite subjects.
