There's not enough sport/action shots being posted. Here's shots from the final matches for the year (each team played 3 x 20 minute matches (10 min. halves) over a 90 minute period).
My son, Kaiea, features in some of the shots. He's not the best player - he's a bit too wild and his ball control needs improvement - but a combination of litheness, acceleration and stamina makes him a dynamic photographic subject.
The lens is the DA 55-300/F4-F5.8. Smaller fields than usual, so lower FLs were used.
1. I like the balance in this group shot. 1/1000s, f/5, ISO125, 135mm FL.
2.
The kick. The shot would have been better of the ball was closer and perhaps the leg not yet horizontal. I had to use 92% Quality setting in this JPEG to reduce JPEG artifacts. I can still see them when I compared the JPEG to the TIFF, along the left elbow & firearm, but it's less visible on the web. 1/1000s, f/5.6, ISO125, 190mm FL.
3. I like both-feet-in-the-air shots. This shot would have looked better if it was sharper and if the ball was caught in flight between the two players. 1/1000s, f/5.6, ISO160, 120mm FL.
4. Not caught on the right foot and fairly soft. I had to crop like this to reduce distractions. 1/1000s, f/5.6, ISO160, 107.5mm FL.
5.
Dance shot. Both players have characteristic facial looks and hand/finger positions that I've seen many times in shots of them. 1/1000s, f/5.6, ISO160, 77.5mm FL.
6. 1/1000s, f/5.6, ISO160, 77.5 FL.
7. Interesting group shot. I don't know why the centre player has the stance he has. 1/1000s, f/5.6, ISO160, 62.5mm FL.
8. A kick that bounced back off player in front, header, or kick gone wrong? 1/1000s, f5.6, ISO160, 150mm FL.
9.
Stretching out. The shot would have been better if the rear player's face was less obscured as he's got an interesting facial expression. The rear player's feet positions are interesting too. 1/800s, F7.1, ISO200, 120mm FL.
10.
Pressing down on the accelerator. 1/800s, f/7.1, ISO200, 97.5mm FL.
