Ash, without disrespect to Dan or you, I am thinking that from lens rendering qualities point of view these shots are pretty ordinary. They show however that photographer here had full control over the DOF, distances to the main subject and background, and visual intent of the scenes. Somehow I am sure that a number of other lenses would have yielded very similar if not practically indistinguishable results.

Boris, I know what you mean; I have no doubt these shots could have been taken with something like the 55-300 and looked practically indistinguishable. The 60-250 is certainly capable of much more, but my I don't have a lot of experience taking these kind of shots so I don't think they are fully representative of what the 60-250 is capable of producing.
That said, I choose the 60-250 primarily for its physical size in order to intimidate the other parents who were taking pictures with their iPhones and Blackberries
