Double pano - night and day
Posted By: philzucker, 12-01-2006, 06:06 PM

A double pano:

Interesting facts:
The "night" one on top taken with a Ds with Zenitar. 10 shots in landscape
orientation stitched together. Tripod used.

The "day" one taken with a Fuji F810 at 32mm focal length (equiv.).
16 shots in portrait orientation. Hand held. Shot from a slightly higher POV.

Okay, both need some more attention and PP work; the day one e.g.
requires extra work for a smooth handrail (see the foreground in the left
side of the pic).

But apart from that: Amazingly similar! Shows BTW that focal length is
irrelevant while shooting panos. The field of view is all what counts! :-)

Very well done panos. Actually pretty amazing to get such 'exacting' alignment with a previous set shot with a different setup. Thanks for posting.

These are great Phil...the night one is my favourite. Seems to have a bit more impact with the lighting from the buildings.
The fuji has done a great job though.
Cheers.

Hi Phil, both are very nice panos. Shows it again that the camera is only a tool, does not matter much what you use. Take care,

Phil,
That is amazing that 2 very diverse cameras/lenses produce such similar shots. Very eye opening.

Nice shots too.

Thanks all for your comments! Found only now the time to reply, sorry.

Yes, you're all right - it's interersting to see how very different cameras, focal lengths and techniques deal with basically the same tasks. This is what I wanted to show here.

I still work on the upper one for final presentation; I made a grave error with the shadow/highlight tool introducing the bright halos around the buildings. I like it very much (the upper one) and will take some time to bring it to its full potential for a nice print.

Thanks for looking!

Phil
