Wonderful shots. I love those things but there aren't many to be found in Kansas.

I think out of all the PNW mountains, I like Mt Hood the best. Beautiful image. JIM

Excellent capture. I've been wanting to see one of these in person, but, as KansasHorizons indicated, I don't think we'll see any of these hanging on top of Mt. Sunflower!

Very nicely shot, and well spotted.
Wonderful 3D effect and colours, and what a gorgeous mountain.

Cool cloud - somewhere between mysterious and slightly comic, like an oversize siesta hat set atop the mountain. Did it grow larger over the day or is the greater size in the second shot a consequence of altered perspective? It looks as though you drove up closer along that road in the first picture before taking the second.

Thanks for the kind comments.

The first shot is looking S, 15 miles from the summit and elevation 1000 ft
The second is looking N, 5 miles from the summit, elevation 5000 ft

Mt Hood itself is 11,400 ft.

I drove south from the Columbia River stopping to shoot pictures, and ended up at one of the ski areas, Mt. Hood Meadows. I cropped the parking lot out of the second shot, and if you look carefully, you can see a chairlift at the bottom of the second shot.

These clouds happen routinely on the Pacific NW volcanic peaks. This one was particularly well formed.
