Dear Pablom:
Gila Cliff Dwelling NM is about 40 miles north of Silver City on state route 15 in the southwest corner of New Mexico. The last half of the drive is a dead-end road. The best approach is from Interstate 25 south from Albuquerque, then west on state 90 to the town of San Lorenzo, then north on State 35 to the intersection with state 15 at the start of the approximately 20 mile dead end into the monument. State 35 has wonderful views, but they are more a treat for the eyes than the camera. Took dozens of shots on the way in, but none are especially noteworthy landscapes. There should be attached a view southward from along State 35. The Rt 35 road cut is visible long the hillside to the left. Best part of this drive: about 20 miles with no restaurants, no gas stations, no dwellings, no power lines, and no more that 10 other vehicles encountered, most going the opposite direction. The ~20 mile dead end also has virtually nothing (there is a power line) until you get to the National Monument. Essentially that road exists only to get access to Gila Cliff Dwelling.
