Todays hike with the Helios-44K-4 (8 photos)
Lens: well.... Camera: K20d Photo Location: Twente, NL
Posted By: Rense, 09-18-2010, 09:06 AM

Last week, I ordered a K-mount Helios-44K-4, since I love my M42 Helios-44M, and I sold my 44M-4 to Iris... It arrived yesterday from Latvia, and I mounted it on my camera today to join me during a hike through Northeastern Twente, NL. These shots are all made during this hike, and all with the above mentioned lens. All but the mushroom are made at f/2, the max aperture of this lens. The mushroom was made at about f/4.

I think I'll keep this copy.....

Beautiful photos, Rense. That lens looks like a keeper! Nice bokeh and color, and sharp. Hard to choose a favorite, so I won't -- I like them all. I do wonder, though, can you tell me what the plant/flower is in #2? Looks like a shrub which is growing (and flowering) vigorously around here in the northern Adirondacks, and I can't find an identification.

Thank you Tamia! It's not really a shrub, although it can reach 2 meters high or even more. It's scientific name is Fallopia japonica (syn. Reynoutria japonica or Polygonum cuspidatum). There are several lookalikes though.... It's an invasive neophyte from Asia in our part of the world.....

Thank you, Rense! I've been poring over my field guides without success. Fallopia japonica it seems to be. There are two variations here, with minor differences in the leaves. It is thriving here.
