Girl and her horse
Posted By: spillway, 12-01-2006, 08:42 PM

Hello, just found this forum!

My daughter and her horse are usually inseparable. However, we
had to send the horse away for a few months for some special training.
She gets to visit her horse once a week. Here they are sharing
a quiet monent in the stall.

This picture was taken in VERY low light. Just a few bare bulbs in a
large barn. No daylight.

There is NO PP on this picture. Only resized.

Oh, and those vertical 'bands'? Those are shadows from the bars in the stall!

Thanks for looking. I'm new to the DSLR world and I'm sure I'll learn a lot here.

Great shot of a special moment. The lighting adds to the shot.

That's great! Really good emotion and the low light goes well with the topic.

I really can't find the right words to describe the feeling your picture evokes because I've got this big lump in my throat. Thank you for sharing such powerful and personal image.

Wow, thanks for all the kind words everyone. A little more background:

We had driven to this stable so that my daughter could ride. I was looking forward
to trying out my new camera & lens in the indoor arena. But there was a mixup and the arena wasn't available.

So, she was sad because she couldn't ride. I was bummed because I couldn't practice shooting motion indoors.

I guess it came through in the picture.

May I say that this is a memory picture and you would do well to make in into a special Christmas gift that your daughter will cherish for the rest of her life. Even disappointments can turn into special times. You done good Papa!

Wow!

Fantastic image! The kind that sticks in your mind for a long time. That's why it's good to take a camera with you everywhere you go.

Thanks a lot for sharing.

Cheers!

This image deserves to be printed, framed, and mounted on a wall in your house. It is THAT good! Beautiful.
