Hummingbird image today @ 600mm
Posted By: Marc Langille, 09-25-2010, 03:19 PM

Taken with the K10D. Cropped to just over 2500 pixels on the long side.

NOTE: Click on the image to load the slightly larger one, then click on it again to zoom in (for Firefox anyway) to the full 1280 pixel image link display. Otherwise it may appear slightly soft - I can assure you it holds up very well at 100%.

Iridescence:

EXIF should display in the image, but here is a summary:

Date Taken - 2010-09-25 12:11:00
Camera - PENTAX K10D
Exposure Time - 0.002s (1/500)
Aperture - f/7.1
ISO - 320
Focal Length - 600mm (900mm in 35mm)
Photo Dimensions - 2534 x 1691

I took more than a few, but just wanted to share this particular shot with everyone. I thought the head angle was a bit unique. I hope you enjoy this image!

EDIT - added cropped image of the head to show image clarity:

Cheers,
Marc

Wow that is an amazing shot.

I think the sharpness is absolutely perfect and focus, love the colour, the subject, the movement. Oh well there's nothing I don't like about it! Fantastic!
Much appreciated on the kind words - thank you. It's a difficult target to "acquire" in flight, especially with the K10D but the rewards are worth the effort.

Really nice shot, well composed and good stop action. I need to give my K10 this kind of workout.
Hi Jim, it's proof that is can be done, although I can assure you I stress the camera specs frequently with the in flight photography.

Thank you CharlieZ - I'll try to get a few more up soon so we can enjoy them after they've departed.

Douglas, most appreciated and yes this is a stellar lens for it's bokeh, made even more impressive since it's a (long FL) zoom!
