A Few More from the Dog Shoot

Because really, who doesn't like puppies. And if you don't like puppies, we puppy-lovers will forgive you. Because puppy-lovers are just forgiving that way .

So Chaos reigned. I think the owner wanted a nice formal posed doggy portrait but the closest one I got to that mom had her eyes closed. Oh well. If your subjects won't cooperate what can you do. But dang those puppies were cute!

Aww that's adorable.

What sort of lighting setup did you use?

Well one funny part of this whole thing was that I went in prepared with a backdrop and stand (the kind with a crossbar and my backdrop is 20f long to put the doggies on), two main strobes with softboxes and some little slaves to fill in here and there. But once the dogs were let loose I saw quickly that none of that was going to happen. Fortunately they had one room that was almost completely empty so we used that and I had one stobe with softbox and just kind of pivoted it around to where ever we could get the dogs to sit still for a few seconds. With varying success. Pretty much every shot was in a different part of the room.

Thanks! That was a definite "we don't want to sit pretty" moment.

I like em Mel... even the one where mama's eyes are closed... just shows how worn out she is from herding the pups and the papa around.

Thanks Mike but I dunno, she was just as energetic as the others. But yeah, she seems to keep papa in line a bit.

I love the roll over one I'd have been sniffing the puppies, can't get enough of that gorgeous puppy smell and also puppy belly.

I know! I was having a really hard time keeping my hands on my camera and not all over the puppies. I wish i could have done a shoot with them when they still had all 9 puppies. That would have been fun.
