Wet Colors - Eight Pix
Camera: K200D Photo Location: Northern NY

Went for a hike in windy rain yesterday and came away with some shots of the changing colors. I've tried to reproduce them as naturally as possible, without over-saturation. As always, CC welcome.

I don't know much in photography, but consider these pictures to be effective and colorful. Maybe the best way to evaluate camera's color "perception".

Beautiful and effective shots Tamia. I have to say though that the first one is far and away the best of the bunch.

The first is definitely wonderful. The dual movement from softness in the foreground to sharpness at the back, and from lighter to darker is magical and gives the image a 3D effect. You probably have noticed, the colours are much more saturated in the rain. If you feel they appear oversaturated, just lighten them a bit. You didn't list the lens, but I suspect something in the 70-200 range to give the limited depth of field, or a macro lens. Just keep at it, you are doing very well in isolating your subjects from the busy scene.

Thanks very much Mike and JMR. I, too, really like the first fern shot. JMR, thanks also for the detailed comments. I have always loved shooting in the rain or right afterwards so that I could capture saturated colors. Sometimes I wonder, though, whether viewers of the photos will think that the brilliance is overdone or unreal, even if I try to capture the colors as they appeared in nature. I used two different lenses for this series -- the 18-55mm kit lens and the DA 50-200mm. The first of the ferns shots was photographed with the long lens at 200mm, ISO 100, f5.6, 1/125. I like using the telephoto to isolate subjects from busier surroundings, and I guess I managed to do that here.

Thanks again for the feedback. Much appreciated.

Wonderful pictures! I can;t decide which one I like best; in #1 I love the 'movement; and focus, in #3 the shapes, in 5 the strong colours and shifting focus ... oh well, just don't know. Like all of them!

The first and last shots are my favorites. I can almost smell the wet dirt and leaves! Gorgeous!
