This will, perhaps, be a little harder to figure out to someone who did not grow up in skyscrapers, concrete or asphalt. As boys, we had a habit to gather along the walls of buildings, in a corners, hiding in the dark "underground" garage, where our parents and the neighbors won't see us. There, where everything that could fall from the sky was actualy falling on concrete - dead birds, cigarette butts, burnt dinners. Those were our places for the imagination, a little scary and full of boys legende. Kids are no longer gathering there. Where are the boys these days? At shopping centers?
