Over the last weekend I got to spend a few days wandering around Orkney Island, one of the largest islands to the north of Scotland. We spent most of the time around the two bigger towns; Kirkwall and Stromness. Generally speaking it was a great trip; beautiful place, nice people and very relaxed.

St Magnus Cathedral, Kirkwall. This is a gorgeous sandstone building that was originally erected in 1137. This was definitely the find of the trip and certainly not what you expect to find on an island of only 20,000 people!
