Len,

I saw this and the lumber yard image. I like them both. Perhaps this one more so for the effective industrial color, composition and execution. Can you provide more information on the capture of this particular image and any post production additions?

The Utah Railway is just such a great subject. When I was in UT, after RailCamp on the NNRy, I only got rail photos of the UP in Milford.

Excellent!

Appreciate the comments. I had my LX on a Bogen heavy tripod. Time exposure at f5.6. I painted the front of the engine and the foreground with light from a 1 million candlepower halogen "light gun" ($19.95 at Wal Mart). I call it my LED Gun although I use it in halogen mode only. It is rechargeable.

I scanned the fujichrome image in my Nikon Coolscan scanner, and made adjustments in light, contrast, hue, intensity, and did a final crop for composition. I do this with all my slides. Thanks again.

Nice pic. I think the differeng color temps of the light sources really makes it work as it makes the engine pop really well. Plus the halogen lighting compliments the mercury vapor lamps. Wouldn't have worked nearly as well with sodium vapor or color corrected mercury vapor lamps.
