Sea Dragon

Hope I'm not duplicating this post, but my first attempt seemed to go bad. After taking several pictures I saw the sign requesting that flash not be used, as these sea horse relatives are sensitive to bright light (a sensitivity shared with cephalopods = octopus, squid, nautilus, etc.). I was embarrassed, but pleased with this photo.

Thanks Marcus. As you might suspect, he's supposed to look like plankton - actually like sargasso seaweed. There are some less exuberantly decorative species that give a hint of the evolution from more ordinary looking sea horses.

Dear Catsman

No, not a pet. In a public aquarium in Florida. Generally you can use flash at aquariums, which in many cases is a necessity. However, some sea life is sensitive to bright light, including most of the cephalopods (octopus, squid, nautilus, cuttlefish). I didn't know that these sea horses were also sensitive, and didn't see the sign requesting "no flash photography" until after I'd taken several pictures (more normal sea horses are not so sensitive). Felt bad about that, but I like this image, as well as one of a less decorative species.
