Tulip Festival
Posted By: roentarre, 09-15-2007, 12:47 AM

Joel and I drove to Dandenong ranges of Melbourne for this tulip festive season. Pity only 10% of flowers were actually blossomed.

Here are a few shots ( A long time since I clicked any shutters)

A 50 f1.2

A 200 f4 macro

Fa 80-200

Cheers

Thank you, kjask. Finally I managed to snap a few shots today. Feels so wonderful spending a few hours trying to compose - that is where the fun is.

Thanks for your comments. Great to see you around too

I decided to take the A 50 f1.2 for some fun today after reading the post comparing A 50 f1.2 vs KZ 50 f1.4; otherwise, I would almost forget about this lens

It seems majority of my shots were mediocre until I play around A 50 f1.2 - the saviour of the day

I agree with Carpents - is that a flash effect ? All are very nice indeed.

I was wondering where are there Tulips this time of year (only looked @ the pictures) ... then came the 'duh' moment (where's the hit my head with a hammer smiley?) when I saw your location. We sometimes forget. Spectacular shots.

These are lovely. That first shot is ...to sound a little hokey... magical. Reminds me of 2 lovers in a field of flowers.

Lovely series of shots - this one would have to be my favorite, but in my opinion, you just can't go wrong with tulips.

Not a flash effect. A 50 f1.2 used wide open would give you that. The common problem I encounter with pentax A lenses is the fact that images get clipped really easily especially on the edges.

Lucky the day was rather overcast hence most of the images do have colour in them; otherwise the aussie sun would destroy majority of the shots.

To the contrary, I pray for cloudy and overcast weather for photo outing most of the time

Hehe, sounds like a WW II scene where I had been dodged in.

Will manage to get some chance to pick another avatar. Sean, you are scarying me!

The fact was that Joel and I were whining about the flowers not yet blossomed, the dirt was so sticky at the bottom of our shoes. In less an hour, we drove to back to city for some dumplings ...

To be honest, I had no ideas some shots did turn out alright

You sound so poetic and thank you for the appraisal.

I had tulips in my backyard and they never lasted more than 2 weeks...

Tulips are so colourful that I found it very interesting to photograph.

The only problem is the colour - red. Almost hard to get it right. Sigh ....
