The woods are lovely, dark, and deep

With Robert Frost on the brain, here's a little autumny goodness from northern Virginia. The majority of the color is still high up in the trees but is moving down. Probably in another week it'll be over. This is by far my favorite time of year.

Cool shots Mel - the ending of Fall and the coming of Winter. For some reason there's a bit of Bradbury's "October Country" in these great pics - just a hint of spookiness.

I dig 'em.

They are all very nice Mel, but the 3rd one is positively magical!

Thanks Jer. I like injecting a little dramatic moodiness into my images.

Thanks Mike!
The last 3 shots were inside Prince William Forest Park. That shot is on a small side trail that I like to take while running. That portion of the trail has those thin wavy trees close to it that form almost a canopy overhead that's not much higher than I am tall. I call it the Hobbit Trail. It's almost like a tunnel.

Thanks! I tried getting other variations of the reflecting water but with the trees and fallen leaves everything was so busy. I liked the simplicity of just the water broken by the rock.

"The woods are lovely, dark, and deep" and the light and compositions, enticing. As long as you can express and enjoy the qualities of autumn, as you have in your images, it is all worthwhile.
