Thank you!!
The Death Valley is really gorgeous, except for the very high temperature I've found in my trip, normally 47°C (117°F), but I found the maximum of 50°C (122°F)...
I shivered when the coolant of the car reached 266°F...but the car resisted (Chevrolet HHR)...
In Italy we don't have so extreme temperature, and I think European cars would have had problems...

Stunning scenery, Davide, and congratulations on your marriage. I love the SW.

Iris, you'll just have to go back with your Pentax! April is a good time, I hear, because the desert can be abloom with flowers then.

Love your pix of Z Point. North American Chevies are pretty rugged. I live in a part of Canada where the temps range from 40 above to 40 below...an astounding temp range.

Now it doesn't hit the 40's (Celsius) much...but it does hit 30 below C and 30 above C not uncommonly.

Our chevies have never experienced difficulty at these temps, although we plug in engine block heaters when the temp get to 20 below C. and colder.

I own, here in Italy, a Bmw 120d and a Volvo V70, both DIESEL powered!!!
I think in extreme temperature like 40 below the engine simply doesn't start...

The lowest temperature I experienced with my Volvo Diesel was -17° C (1.4°F) and it worked...

I liked the HHR I had in my trip, all but the automatic gearbox...an old 4 gear with no manual possibility...sorry, but I adore my manual gearbox...
This was the Chevrolet I rented:
