You should embed some photos in addition to the link- that way, you'll get more relevant comments! Nice series of streets shots.

No, I went to, from north to south: Nikko, Tokyo, Kamakura, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima and Hakata. I wanted to go to Niigata, but I didn't have the chance this time.

Mt. Fuji from the Tokaido Shinkansen

Nice shot of Fuji-san! I must have been asleep on the Tokaido - I've travelled south on the Tokaido twice now and missed Fuji both times.
I like the Haruka Express shot too!

I joined some locals making mochi back in 2002. Good to see people still making rice cakes the traditional way.

I like #3. Good composition with the light/angle. I wonder if it'd look good in monochrome?

Oh, how could you miss Mt. Fuji... twice?

Yeah, the folks making the rice cakes were very kind on letting me take some pictures of them.

Ok, a few more now that I have a little time to spare:

At the grounds of Senso Temple in Asakusa, Tokyo.

Also at Senso Temple

I wonder if it was a coincidence that the dog outside the shop greatly resembled the stuffed one inside.

Christmas at Osaka's Aquarium

It would seem Japanese kids are seriously taught about photography.

Noisy shot, but at that time I had the kit lens mounted, it couldn't be helped.

At Miyajima Shrine, near Hiroshima.

Torii gate at Miyajima.

The Shinkansen just cannot be late.

At Ueno Park, in Tokyo.

Inside Osaka's subway.

Kodama Shinkansen, I don't know why I just love this shot.

Just delicious

Also delicious

Visiting Gojoten Shrine at Ueno Park, I think this girl was there because of her coming of age, which in Japan is when one turns 20 years old.

Quickly unloading a food cart (empty, I guess) from the Narita Express at Tokyo Station.

Tokyo Tower.

Yuigahama beach, in Kamakura.

I personally don't like very much monochrome pictures (color is just so beautiful), but I guess some shots may look good. I will try on this one.

Tokyo Station, waiting for the Tohoku Shinkansen.

Arriving Max Yamabiko Shinkansen.

Yaki-soba stand on the main street in Harajuku, Tokyo, on January 1st.

Inside the Osaka Loop Line at Osaka Station. I like the hue of the background beyond the train's windshield.

Weather and smog. But I did see Fuji from Hakone and Takao-san.

I have video of when I saw it done. I didn't have much of a go at it myself because when I raised the mallet it was had to avoid hitting the awning above me. I was also told to just let the mallet drop, but the Japanese man who took over after me was using quite a lot of force.

Thanks for posting more pics. I love some of the train shots - you should post them in the train social group. The pic of Santa is one of those fun bizarre Japanese things. The shot of the girl who may have been coming of age is interesting. In Kashima, the coming of age celebration seemed to be done on the one day for all the girls of the city. I can't remember the day but it wasn't New Year. The photo you took looks like New Year because of the cane ring at the shrine. I can't remember exactly how it was supposed to be used but I think you are meant to walk through it three times in a certain pattern to dispel evil and bring good luck for the year ahead?

Always a treat to see photos from places I haven't been, and these are terrific - thanks for posting them.

The one I keep coming back to is Steps of Asakusabishi Station; something about that image just draws me in.
