I haven't seen todays paper yet..... but I got my first cover shot.

I got an e-mail from this boy's mom asking me for the photograph, and informing me that it's a cover shot

She hasn't seen the paper yet either, she's from Victoria and he's up here visiting with relatives.

I knew that it had serious potential, but I didn't have the faintest idea what page the paper had reserved for my work.

I'll get a copy of the paper tomorrow, and it sounds like I'll see the editor as well.
I'm hoping that I can talk him into printing me a copy onto a better format paper.

I'll scan the paper and post it ASAP

And as Dave said ... having a chat with the Editor can only lead to more work ... and more opportunity for fun shots I guess.

I'd love to get some of my work in print ... but I am just not there yet.

Market that image, Stu. The kid is adorable. Because of that, I suspect John Deere tractors would also pay money for the picture as well. It might also make a good cover shot for a farm equipment magazine, a country living magazine, or a family magazine. Don't forget to first get a model release from the mom, offering her a percentage of the sales if necessary.

Congrats Stu and it is a lovely shot that anyone would be proud of. Glad to see that all the hours spent taking pictures is paying off so keep it up and hopefully you'll be a regular photog for the local paper.
