Christmas Parade
Posted By: roscot, 12-04-2006, 06:30 PM

The City of Virginia Beach Held our Christmas parade last Saturday night.

I took the K10D, Sigma 70-200 EX, Fa77 Lmt, and the FA50 f1.4,my monopod, and since I haven't got the Sigma EF500 rechipped yet, the Pentax AF280T in auto mode. SR was on.
My goal was to see how the K10 works under difficult lighting at moderate high ISO. All shots were at ISO800. The camera was in manual exposure. I think the camera did very well. I did not experience any noise artifacts, of front or back focus issues. Without a flash assist, AF was a bit finicky, but never failed eventually to lock on.

The gallery is here, please let me know what you think.

Hi Alan, clean images with your fa 50/1.4 and fa 77/1.8. As you have described, hard to locate any artifacts in your images. Iso 800 did appear noisy at corners when i do my shots with fa31/1.8 but not much with your shots. Might be it is to do with bright highlights in the background in my shots. It is still usable but i still love Iso <600

In dark situation, AF hunts a bit (which camera doesn't). I do find 77/1.8 hunts a bit as well as it is such a heavy lens for its own size.

As per, Alan great shots. The camera seems to do a real fine job for the high ISO. Heck Alan what camera wouldn't hunt in the low light you were shooting in. Be kind to that new camera and it will be kind to you

Good Shooting.
Cheers: David

Wonderful!

Hi Alan!

Another set of images to boost the Christmas spirit! What was the theme? I liked them all!

We had our parade Saturday night as well - Carribean Christmas (LOL!). The ice rink had a float and my daughter was one of the walkers - they walked along side and did jumps and handed out candy. Of course, that meant I had to walk as one of the chaperones. I took 300 photos and am still working on them.
