Posted By: codiac2600, 09-21-2007, 10:17 PM

Just snapped a shot using the Sony A700 and here is ISO 6400 for everyone to gander because the rumor is Pentax is going to be using the same sensor.

Looks nice. So Sony have finally caught up with Canon. Let's hope Pentax camera division will survive too.

Thanks for uploading this...
The noise seems to be a lot less than K100D's ISO 800. What is your estimate?

Too bad this image is cleaner than Canon ISO 1600 so in that regard Canon needs to catch up to Sony. Seems to be a trend this year with Nikon and Sony besting the 40D and the flop of the 1DMKIII.

Pentax will do fine and the new body will be so much better than the awful A700 body. Plus the new Pentax glass will show up sooner than later and stomp the competition again.

That's very impressive Chris.
I'm looking forward to seeing a Pentax with that sensor.
I might have to put off looking at the Sigma SD14 for a while
(No I wasn't going to Jump ship, just add another choice to my collection)

Thanks for this post. The noise level is not that high from this image. Cannot wait for the next model to be released

If this sensor is that good at ISO6400 I would love to see the quality of a shot at ISO100.

very impressive lack of noise, and a question about the ISO

Hi Chris!

I was curious as to the shutter/aperture of the shot, so I checked the EXIF data - it shows ISO 3200? Regardless of whether or not it's 3200 or 6400, it's VERY nice. I'd be more than happy with just ISO 3200 and the noise being this low.

Thank you for posting this - perhaps good low light performance is ahead for Pentax!!

Cheers,
Marc

Thanks for the full crop. I at first thought there was a typo when you said ISO 6400, and then I read up on the a700 camera online.
That's incredilbe at how usable the image is at 6400, 3200, whatever. I can only wish Pentax would include in their new dslr iso 6400,
full frame, higher sync speed, and how about live view and I'd be a happy camper. I will be excitedly be waiting for the next dslr from
Pentax!
