An Australian lawn-mower
Lens: DAL 55-300 Camera: K-x Photo Location: Australia ISO: 6400 Aperture: F5.6
Posted By: rawr, 11-17-2010, 04:46 PM

This little wallaby was in my backyard this morning, doing some lawn-mowing. A pair of these regularly perform this service for me.

The photos are a bit soft because it was very early and the light wasn't good, so I had to use 6400 ISO and shoot wide open. Plus the shots are handheld using telephoto.

I think you need a few more blades on that mower.

Indeed. They aren't that efficient. But they are a pleasure to watch.

Now here's something we don't see in Texas. He's welcome to come here and work on my lawn anytime.

Nice shots, for sure.

A welcome visitor it seems.
Not bad for wide open shots.

Thanks. It was I think about 5:30am, so the light was very dim, hence I had to go wide-open. Normally with the 55-300, while wide-open is OK, I stick to f8-f11 for max sharpness and good working DOF. But most of the softness in the image here is probably due to high-ISO more than the lens.

I wish I had a lawn mower like that.
Is she having a little one with her?

I think you may be right. There may be a joey in there.
If I see one hopping around, I'll take photos and share them here.
