Losing the Light
Lens: DA 18-55mm II Camera: K200D Photo Location: Northern NY ISO: 200

When the sun finally came out after a week of dreary weather, I hit the trail to hike into a place where there are always beautiful views to be had along the river. I got there just before the sun began to sink too low to make it over the hills to the west. It cast a warm glow over the west-facing ridge on the other side of the river, and this was reflected in the flood waters. [Cross-posted with POTW]

Tamia - those who send disparaging remarks about the Pentax kit lenses should look at these images first. They are beautiful. Thanks for sharing them with us.

Those colours are gorgeous and you sure make the kit lens rock.
Personally I don't get it why people are always so negative about it, sure there are far more better lenses, but with the right photographer you can get a lot out of it.

Thanks Albert, Jouni, and Karen. My hope with these photos was to capture the luminescent colors reflected on the water. I think that the kit lens did a pretty good job of that. I wish folks would give the kit lens a bit more time, because it can take some lovely shots.
