Waiting for the ceremony to start.... (photo approved in Pentax Premiere Collection)
Posted By: mikerigel, 09-26-2007, 04:17 AM

Here's a photo I took 2 weeks ago at a friend's wedding. When I saw those glasses with the candles behind, I knew that could make a good photograph.
Taken with K10 and DA* 50-135mm.

1/125s f/5.6 at 95.0mm iso800

I submitted it without much faith to the Pentax gallery and it ended up in the premiere collection...

Comments welcome!

Wow, I love the repeating pattern created by the glass, and especially how the reflections are in focus.

Most excellent Mike. Stunning capture, and I too love the reflections of the glass bases.

Thank you. I think the very low light in the reception hall was perfect, and I like the purple table cloth adding colors to the overall image.

Thank you! I took several ones that night, including some with the candle in focus and the glasses out but it doesn't look as good.

Thanks. I loved the reflections too. As mentioned above, I have other shots with the glasses completely out of focus but it just doesn't look as good, and the reflections are too blurry.

Yes, a stunning photo Mike. The refections and patterns in the glass are beautiful and also give a harmony to the scene. Excellent use of dof. You have a good eye for an opportunity for a great shot.

excellent shot Mike. I love the contrast between the warm candle light reflections and the cool tones in the glasses.

Mike, this is a classic example of photography

You've captured reflected light, but the way in which it was captured makes it such an interesting image.

Yes, it's busy, but in the right way... the creation of a pattern within the confusion. I think any other composition or angle wouldn't be quite "right" in capturing the reflections. I hope that makes sense!

Beautifully done.

Cheers,
Marc

The lighting is so sophisticated. Warm and rich sentiment flows through.

Congrads on the shot added to the premier!
