the timing of the shot is great but what is the one thing you see the most with skate photography?
fish eye and wide angle lenses.you dont need to look through the viewfinder,just put the camera as close to the action without getting in the way and rattle of your shots.

I like the idea. It may work better in color, as it's hard to see the subject with the trees directly behind. While nothing can be done with the fence, and gives it the urban feel, the pole pulls away from the subject as well.

I really like "freestyle" sports photography. It's something I'm a long way from. You really have to be quick, and compose on the fly. Keep shooting. I think you've got something here. It may even be cool (if it's alright with the skaters) if you threw some off camera flashes around the rim.
