Rare Bird
Lens: DA 16-45 Camera: K20D Photo Location: Watergate Marina, Kemah, TX
Posted By: Sailor, 12-12-2010, 09:05 AM

When it was built, the marina neighboring ours - one of the oldest in the area - adorned the roof of its admin complex with a steel eagle sculpture. Over the years, oxidation and storms weakened the statue to the point that the marina was forced to remove it from the roof (so eagle pieces wouldn't fall on hapless marina tenants). Because it was such an area landmark, the marina did some repairs and placed it on the ground as part of the company's post-Ike renovations.

Here are some shots I got of this "rare bird" a week or so ago.

Nice! I had to open it several times to view. Festus and Otis kept hitting the close button......a bird like that could eliminate a lot of Squirrels, fast!
I too think the BW works well on this one.
Best Regards!

Hey - I appreciate it. BTW, I don't think Otis and Festus need worry excesively; this rare bird doesn't move very fast (just like the old geezer that shot the photos).

I suspect it's seen a lot, for sure.

Thanks much, Dave. Yeah - I think a mess on a windshield would yield no windshield!

We've got a "rare" rooster here in Alabama that looks very similar to this bird. Must be relatives.
