Oh Deer!
Lens: Tamron 18-250 Camera: Pentax K-5 Photo Location: Ottawa, Canada ISO: 3200 Shutter Speed: 1/250s
Posted By: Vil, 12-12-2010, 12:33 PM

Went to a local trail expecting to find some birds and squirrels when I spotted these two fellows. They were very approachable and didn't seem to mind my company.

And I did run into the odd squirrel

Awesome shots! Nice that you were able to get up so closely to those beautiful animals.
Really shows how clean the K-5's ISO3200 is.. Incredible!
Thanks for sharing with us!

Very nice, also demonstrates that the 18-250 is not something to sneer at :-)

Probably 15-ft or so. I probably could have gotten closer but didn't want to press my luck.

Great deer shots, very sharp and great resolution/color. Of course, my favorite was the Handsome Squirrel! I had to explain to Otis and Festus that by "odd" you meant no malice toward the Squirrel.....you didn't, did you? LOL!
Best Regards!

I love the shots and am seriously drooling over the K5's ability to shoot at that ISO...it's like 4x what I'd attempt to shoot with my K10...

Very nice shots. Did you blur the background during PP? I like my Tamron 18-250 but I don't think it would produce images like these out of the box.

I didn't blur the background. That's how it looked out of the box. It's the effect you get when you zoom in to an object that's relatively close.

I know that effect. I just didn't think the Tamron would produce such backgrounds even in these circumstance. I'll have a look at some of my past shots.

After an initial period of getting to grips with the idea of a "superzoom" and its inevitable compromises, I wholly embraced the Tamron 18-250 as a great lens that has much more virtues than offering "flexibility". Too bad it went out of production.
