My home town.
Posted By: Bramela, 09-29-2007, 02:02 AM

Went for a walk early this morning and caught a couple of shots of the city just after sunrise. Rather unique is the fact that the main centre of the city and the main street are right by the beach, and harbour.

K10d with Tamron Di LD 75-300.

Nice shots, A beautiful city. I like the 'framing' of that second shot with the chimney pots on both lower corners. That would be a good scene to try HDR with (really helps the sky).

Nice shots mate! Looks like a nice place to call home.

You noted that you used a "Tamron Di LD 75-300" but the EXIF on the first shot shows a focal length of 17mm. I find the first one somewhat unsharp as compared to the second.

Sorry, mistake there, I used the Sigma 17-70.
Yes I agree the first was a bit on the furry side, my slip up there.
I find wearing glasses and obtaining a good M focus whixh I like to do is a little difficult at times.
This shot is a bit better I feel.

I am never, never up that early! Though I know there are some wonderful shots to be had at that time.

Hello Arpe,
I have always found it one of the best times of the day for photography. Fogs, mists, dews etc.
I am up 4.30a to 5.30a every morning. Just how my body clock works I reckon.

Hi Bramela,
What a beautiful place to call home....
You are on a very different internal clock than I am, but you are right, that time of morning can be the golden hour for light/visuals.
I agree that the second one is framed very nice with the chimneys and the third shot is much sharper than the first on my monitor.
thanks for sharing your hometown...
