Snow in the park
Lens: D-FA 100mm WR Camera: K200D Photo Location: Swansea, UK
Posted By: timh, 12-19-2010, 02:46 PM

It snowed a few days ago, heaviest here for at least 5-6 years so naturally I had to ignore work for a while and wander around in the nearest park with a camera.

These are all with the 100mm WR, except the one which obviously isn't and that's a Sigma 10-20 at 10mm. My favourites are the first two and the great tit.

Wow - great snow shots. I really like the feel and the "texture" (for lack of a better word) of these pics. I enjoyed each one of them.

fantastic shots. the first two have an interesting texture to them. Looks like taking the day off of work was well worth it.

Very nice series, the first one is the best, IMHO anyway. Thanks for posting them.

Love the color and mood on the first two. Consider B&W on the third.

I like the first two and the gnarled tree. Of course it is not, but you portrayed it creatively. I know some people complain about the lack of whiteness in snow scenes, but IMO, it's an aesthetic choice. How else do we depict, dreary grey days, or blue moods, or flat light with dark scenes, but to sometimes make the exposures fit the mood. Nice work.

Thanks for the nice comments! The light conditions for the first two only lasted a few minutes so I'm glad I was, entirely by chance, in the right place.

JMR - exactly, I could have made these bright white during PP but that wouldn't have reflected the reality of the day.

song_hm - You might be right about BW, I didn't initially because I quite like the almost-monochrome foreground with the blue sky but this does possibly look better:

Tim I think that shot works both B&W or color. But that is just me

Love the first two. Also the B&W treatment you gave the third.
