Nice shot, Bob. These guys do look a bit ragged in the heat.

Magnificent animals, Bob. I bet it feels good to lose that dense fur in summer.

I must have been a plains indian in a past life, every time I see Bison I salivate, and do I ever love Buffalo burgers. I was in Yellowstone once following the tour guide when the guide said "there are only about 5,000 buffalo left in the park" A little girl said to her dad "Why are therre so few left Daddy.' To which he replied "Cause they taste so darn good."

Hey Bob, why would you ever post these? Better send them to the Park Authorities and have the animals checked out.

Susan, these photos were taken in Custer SP in SD, We have visited TR park though in ND, quite a large park if you explore the whole area.
Sparkle, all the bison are very healthy, they just go through a rough looking time losing that winter coat as Jer and Jim noted. The herd is the largest we have seen in years and is managed closely.
Norm, the meat has very little fat compared to the hamburger we purchase fin the store and that is a great reply concerning the herd population. A couple more of the bison.
